  • League Rules

    League Philosophy

    Our leagues are designed to be social, welcoming, and fun. While points are awarded and prizes are earned, our primary goal is to create a consistent place for players to gather, improve their skills, and enjoy Mahjong with friends.

    Eligibility

    • Players must have completed at least one American Mahjong lesson prior to league play.
    • Beginner and intermediate players are welcome.
    • Advanced divisions may be added based on registration numbers.

  • Weekly Play

    • League play will occur at the designated time and location each week.
    • Players should arrive 10–15 minutes early to check in and be seated.
    • Each player is responsible for tracking their own score sheet.

  • Scoring

    League scoring will follow the official OK MAHJ SOCIETY League Score Sheet.

    • Winning hand earns the point value listed on the NMJL card.
    • Self-drawn Mahjong: +10 points
    • No Jokers (excluding Singles & Pairs): +20 points
    • Wall Game: Each player receives 10 points

    Defensive Scoring

    • Discarding the winning tile to a player with 0–1 exposures: -10 points
    • Discarding the winning tile to a player with 2 exposures: -20 points
    • Discarding the winning tile to a player with 3+ exposures: -25 points

  • Sportmanship

    • Be kind and encouraging.
    • Celebrate wins and support newer players.
    • Questions are welcome.
    • Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in point deductions or removal from league play.

  • Absences

    • League fees are non-refundable.
    • Missed weeks may not be made up.
    • Players may arrange for a substitute if approved by league organizers.on goes here

  • Prizes

    League prizes are awarded based on final point totals at the conclusion of league play.

    In the event of a tie, tied players will participate in a playoff game to determine final placement. goes here
